Sempai Bradley Chisholm

Sempai Brad Chisholm is a committed martial artist with a deep passion for Kyokushin Karate. His journey began in 2013 in New Zealand, and continued in 2014 after relocating to Australia, where he joined the Ballina Dojo under Shihan  Jon Ellis, at eight years old.

Brad’s dedication to the art has seen him actively involved in tournaments and events throughout his training. He has competed in the Gold Coast Budo Challenge, earning a gold medal in 2023 and a silver medal in 2024 for his efforts in kumite.

After nearly a decade of rigorous training, Brad earned his 1st Dan black belt in June 2022 under Hanshi Howard Lipman. He continued to refine his technique and deepen his understanding of Kyokushin, culminating in his promotion to 2nd Dan on December 7th, 2024, graded under Shihan Rick Cunningham.

Brad spent three years teaching classes at the Ballina Dojo, where he played an active role in developing younger students and leading sessions with a strong focus on technique, discipline, and the spirit of Kyokushin. In 2025, he moved to Coffs Harbour and became further involved by opening his own dojo.

Brad is well-equipped to support and inspire students of all ages. His leadership in the Ballina dojo and his approachable, encouraging teaching style have made him a positive influence on many martial artists.

Karate has shaped Brad’s life from a young age, instilling values of perseverance, humility, and self-belief. Now, as a dojo operator and instructor, he is committed to passing on these values and helping others grow through the discipline of Kyokushin Karate.
