Shihan Bill Johansen was appointed as Advisor to MOKKA and brings a lifetime of knowledge and experience to the group, its instructors and students.
Shihan Bill has been studying various martial arts for 40 years and has a passion for learning and teaching martial arts that has stood the test of time. He has been a direct student of Hanshi Patrick McCarthy since 2003 and is currently the Shibucho for Hanshi McCarthy’s organisation in the Oceania region. He has also delivered many seminars for Australian and overseas dojos interested in Hanshi McCarthy’s work.
He uses two main concepts when teaching and striving to improve his own martial arts.
1. On Ko Chi Shin – Study the old to help understand the new. Meaning there is nothing new under the sun just new ways to look at the same thing. i.e the principles don’t change but how you apply them does.
2. Bun Bu Ryo do – The way of both the pen and the sword. Meaning you need to have balance between both improving you’re your mind and knowledge and improving your physical readiness, conditioning. If you spend too much time on one or the other you will never reach your potential.
